Dutch Dental Association. Koninklijke Nederlandse Maatschappij tot bevordering der Tandheelkunde (KNMT) - The Dutch Dental Association is the professional body for dentists, oral surgeons and orthodontists in The Netherlands, providing a voice for more than 10,000 dentists. The Association, formed in 1914, provides collective representation of the profession in dealings with the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, the Dutch Health Care Inspectorate and other supervising bodies and health insurers. Also, the Association lobbies on legislation affecting dentists in The Netherlands and Europe. The Association has had two ties, one to commemorate its 50th anniversary depicting a dental mirror and probe in the tip of the tie, and one to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Association. This second commemorative tie is unusual amongst dental ties in being decorated with spots -not just spots but spots of various colours.
