Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK)
Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK). The Faculty of General Dental of Practice (UK) (FGDP(UK)) was established in 1992 as the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (UK). The UK suffix was added in 19XX. The Faculty was the only professional membership body in the UK specifically for general dental practice. Original Faculty of General Dental Practitioners(UK) ties – red or dark blue had a single, centrally-placed, outlined Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS Eng) eagle motif sitting above ‘FGDP(UK)’. Subsequent designs had multiple Faculty insignia on red (19833.7 – condition, good) or blue backgrounds, followed by a blue (21596.5 – condition, good) or silver (21596.6 - condition, good) tie with multiple Faculty insignia, stripes and, at the bottom of the blade of the tie,“ Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) The Royal College of Surgeons of England” The version of the Faculty tie produced not long before the Faculty separated away from RCS Eng and transitioned into the College of General Dentistry in 2021 featured “FGDP(UK)” only ( blue, 21596.3 – condition, good and maroon, 21596.4 – condition, good) to identify wearers as members of the Faculty rather than members of the College’s Faculty of Dental Surgery or members of the surgical fraternity of the College.
