This tie (2036.2 – condition, good), produced to mark the centenary of Guy’s Dental School, founded in 1889 by Mr Newland Pedley, was designed by the then Dean, Professor Jack Rowe. The centennial celebrations were spread over three days. The highlight of the celebrations was a visit on Friday 12 May 1989 by Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal in her role as Chancellor of the University of London. A service of thanksgiving was held in in Southwark Cathedral. The celebrations, which included a series of lectures , concluded with a dinner held at the Park Lane Hotel.
