Liverpool University Dental Hospital Golf Society
Liverpool University Dental Hospital Golf Society – the home of Liverpool University
Dental Hospital and School Staff-Student- Alumni Golf Competition. The Society and its
annual competition were established in 1957. The first competition, held at the Royal
Birkdale Golf Club, was hosted by Mr Stanley Hilton-Collinge, local general dental
practitioner and retired Honorary Consultant Oral Surgeon, who generously paid the
green fees for the students and provided them with all with a “ham and egg” super, at a
total cost of £11 10s. The competition was opened up to Liverpool dental alumni in 1988. Long-serving stalwarts of the Society have included Mr John Roston MBE and Dr
Mike Martin OBE. This tie was produced, together with a cravat to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the first
competition.
