The Royal Canadian Dental Corps.
The Royal Canadian Dental Corps. The Corps, established on 13 May 1915, was
initially designated the Canadian Army Dental Corps. It served in World War I battlefields
in France and Belgium. The Corps was awarded a Royal Warrant by King George VI in
January 1947 in recognition of its exceptional World War II service. The RCDC has
subsequently served with distinction in Korea, Afghanistan and many other Canadian
Forces missions around the world. The original, polyester tie with the stripes going from
left to right – when worn (20402.1) was introduced in the mid-1950s with the assistance
of Royal Canadian Dental Corps Association (RCDCA). The current, wider, silk version of
the tie (20402.2), introduced in the centennial year of the Corps in 2015, has the stripes
moving downwards from right to left, when worn. The colours of royal blue, emerald
green and yellow gold are the colours of the Corp flag. The current tie is produced by
Guthrie Wood Company which produced tents and other items for Canadian
Expeditionary Forces in World War I.
